Sissy really wanted to take a picture so I set the camera up on a chair, turned on the self timer and let her push the button. This is what we got. It's blurry and we cut off bubby's head, but I love it so much. It just shows us being cuddly and silly which is what we're doing a marjority of the time. In that respect, it's totally perfect.

boating for presents

This morning while I was getting ready for work she asked my why I had been working so much lately. When i explained that part of my work was getting people to vote she perked up and told me she wanted to ride a boat too. When I further explained voting and how this year we get to pick a new president she chimed in that she would really like to go boating for presents, too.

I'm with her, right about now I'd much prefer boating for presents.

That she insists on being a boy?

Probably not.

*Dusts off blog*

Which of course simultaniously cracks me up and drives me insane. Only because it sort of stomps on my idea of raising a girl who knows she can do anything a boy can, and better. Clearly my women's studies minor and studies on feminist philosophy aren't going to come in handy anytime soon...

I know it's a phase, and I'm sure it's going to pass just like the "I'm Prince Charming" phase did but we are going on months of "I'm a boy" or "I can't wear a clippie because boys don't wear clippies" or "that's not a boy shirt!" or "My name isn't honey, it's BOY."

I ignore it for the most part and don't really want to make it a thing, knowing that if I attempt to try and fight it then it will only be worse, but it's sort of driving me nuts. Instead of fighting it I tell her "boys can't totally wear pony tails! Doesn't so and so wear a pony tail?" (referring to a guy we know who has long hair...)

And you can imagine my joy (after having to bribe her to wear a skirt to an event we went to last weekend) when we passed a man wearing a skirt the other day and I whispered to her "See, boys can totally wear dresses!" If she didn't have gender confusion before she will now, lol.

And don't worry, she doesn't actually think she's a boy (she knows boys from girls) she just wants to be boy.

Oy vey.
